Genealogy for Fun and Legacy / PhotoTips for great pictures of friends, family and pets.
Ms. Kristen Bullard-Wright will be teaching you some simple techniques on how to take professional looking family photos. She will have handouts for you on taking pictures, organizing and documenting. www.kristenbullard.printroom.com
Mrs. Gail Hardy will discuss some websites to use when working on genealogy, and will show different examples of putting the information into albums (both traditional and digital). She will talk about the value of documentation of photos, and why that is important even if people have no intention of personally putting them into an album. Documentation is a critical step to preserving the past, and one that is often overlooked.
Meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. on January 7th at Sanctuary at St. Paul's, 3602 South Ironwood Drive South Bend, IN 46614. It is free and open to the public.

Deborah J. Beaverson is an
attorney with the law firm Sanders • Pianowski, LLP. She was admitted to the
Indiana Bar in 2007, Michigan Bar in 2009 and Florida Bar in 2012. She focuses
her practice in the areas of Estate Planning and Administration, Elder Law,
Business Law and Mergers and Acquisitions. She has reviewed and organized
hundreds of estate plans during the last several years. Prior to entering the
practice of law, Deb was an officer in the banking industry for many years.
Deb is currently active as a member of the Elkhart County Estate Planning Council, Elkhart Morning Rotary, the Elkhart County Community Foundation’s Scholarship Committee, the Indiana State Bar Association Elder Law Section and the Elder Law and Probate and Trust Sections of both the Michigan Bar Association and the Florida Bar Association.
Deb completed her undergraduate schooling at Indiana University where she graduated with highest distinction with a B.S. in Business with concentrations in Finance and Business Administration. Deb received her law degree from Valparaiso University, graduating magna cum laude. There has been a change since Mayor Buttigieg is unable to come to our meeting. We will have Lt. Cindy Kilgore of the South Bend Police Department and Crime Stoppers speak with us on personal safety and keeping our homes safe. Many of you may recognize her from her appearances on WNDU's morning show and Crime Stopper commercials.
We will also have a second speaker, an EMT, with information about what to do in an emergency. ICE Michiana (In Case of Emergency) is a program for our area. To get a information tube for your home, call 1-800-914-9488 on where the sticker, magnet for the refrigerator and the information sheet are available currently. Although we are disappointed the Mayor will not be joining us, we do feel these City employees will be excellent speakers with valuable information for all of us.

American Combat Veterans with War Trauma - Dr. Michael Sheehan will be presenting about current treatments for PTSD for men and women. The 10 warning signs of early Alzheimer's Disease Mild forgetfulness is common in normal aging. However, older adults often wonder about how to tell the difference between memory loss that is due to normal aging vs. memory loss that is concerning for the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease. The Alzheimer's Association has published a useful information sheet that describes the 10 early signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease, for example: Memory loss that disrupts daily life or withdrawal from work or social activities.
