Pill Drop at South Bend Police Department

Picture
In an effort to keep prescription pills out of the hands of youth, and out of the local water supply, residents can drop off unused medication, vitamins, and other supplements to the South Bend Police Department’s Pill Drop Box recently installed in their lobby. This is a permanent installation so Pill Drop is available all year now.

Prescription Assistance Programs

Free prescription drugs  If you qualify, you may be able to receive free prescription drugs through Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs). PAPs are set up through drug companies to assist low-income individuals who cannot afford certain medications.

State Health Insurance Program - SHIP

The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) provides free unbiased health insurance information for people with Medicare.  SHIP is part of a federal network of State Health Insurance Assistance Programs located in every state.  In Indiana, SHIP is sponsored by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (the federal agency which administers Medicare) and the Indiana Department of Insurance.

SHIP is not affiliated with any insurance company or agency and does not sell insurance.

SHIP is staffed by a crew of volunteer counselors who have completed an intensive four-day training course and are certified by the IDOI.  Regular training updates keep them current with the most recent changes in Medicare and other health care insurance options.   SHIP counselors are committed volunteers who offer you free and objective assistance in complete confidence. www.in.gov/idoi/2508.htm
